My portrait of Joan Brown is part of a series that I'm developing about women artists (and often muses) who were somewhat overshadowed by there male partners. Actually Joan Brown was married to three artists and none of them over shadowed her. I chose her because she had a dreadful start in life but went on so be a successful artist and seemed to have a very happy life. She was a swimmer, a dancer, a mother and a teacher. And I absolutely love her work.
 
This three colour print is printed on 130g imitation Japanise vellum using linseed based inks. It measures 240 x 320mm
