In 2022 Carlow started to collaborate with artists, Jo Lamb and Isobel Smith when they were given an opportunity to show work together. They decided that they should go on a residency to get to know each other and find a way to link their practises together in some way. In the absence of any funding, they dreamt up an imagined foundation that would fund their wildest dreams, The Fondameto Dello Scherzo.

 

Their first imagined residency took place in Japan, where they responded to the Japanese world of Yokai, a collective term for ghosts, spirits, demons and monsters.
